THE FRIENDS OF MAISEMORE GARDENS
(Separate from Maisemore Council of Management)
For many years the Friends of Maisemore group has run memorable
social events, often on the Green, for those who live here. They
run successful days at different times of the year. There
is an ad hoc committee who do the main organisation but most of
the Friends make an event successful by helping with things like
catering, putting up tents, organising seating, selling tickets,
helping with tables and chairs etc. It costs nothing to be a
member of Friends! Currently the person who runs it Is Suzy
Daniels at No 8. More than 20 others are Friends. The
noticeboard by No 15, owned by Maisemore Gardens, is where
information about future events is posted. It will also get
coverage in the Maisemore newsletter that is sent out quarterly
or so.

Summer picnic
Most years there is a summer lunch party where people pay for a
ticket for the food which is prepared by all the Friends. Sometimes
we have had a musician, or a group of instrumentalists and all
ages are welcome along. With good weather the Green is a great
focus for such events and the lunch party has been known to go
on for several hours….
Easter
Some years an Easter Egg hunt is organized for the youngsters
and visiting grandchildren. The
egg hunters are sent all round Maisemore to find mini eggs. This
is followed by coffee and cakes on the green and games for the
young. People make donations on the day to pay for the eggs etc.
Christmas
In recent years the Friends have put up a Christmas tree on the
green and organised some drink and mince pies for Maisemore
people gathered round the tree with lights. (If anyone is happy
to play a piano and has a keyboard to use on the green, then
carols would be organized too. For
years carols were the focus of such an event. Now
it’s mainly mulled wine!)
Facebook
There is a Facebook presence of Maisemore
Gardens Community with useful information for
people who live here. Check
it out!
Other events
Some Maisemore people organize Boules on the green in the summer
and send round information about it and post it on the
noticeboard by No 15. There was a Pilates local group that
started life during Covid and met outdoors on the Green. Some
people just sit and chat using the benches on the green. So,
there is huge potential for social events in this road. If
you live here, please join Friends of Maisemore and help with it
all!
